A dynamic Browns defense will look to extend their 8-1 home record from last season before they collapsed against the Texans in the AFC Wild Card game in Houston. Dallas is trying to shake off a disastrous performance in the NFC Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers, fueling claims that the Cowboys can’t win in the postseason.

Preview of the Browns – Cowboys game

This game pits two of last season’s best defenses against each other.

The Browns are led by Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, while the Cowboys are supported by star linebacker Micah Parsons. One of the most exciting duels is Garrett against the Cowboys’ rookie offensive tackle Tyler Guyton. His first outing is against the toughest opponent in the league.

Cleveland is led by second-year defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and also boasts an exceptionally dangerous secondary that includes Denzel Ward and Martin Emerson Jr.

The Browns’ offense is lucky because Dallas will be without interception player DaRon Bland, who is recovering from foot surgery. Bland broke the NFL record for touchdowns last season with five interceptions. He had nine interceptions in total.

The offense has seen a major change as the Browns welcome the return of beleaguered quarterback Deshaun Watson, flanked by up-and-coming running back Jerome Ford. Browns star running back Nick Chubb remains on the PUP (Player Unable to Perform) list as he continues to recover from a leg injury that ended his season last year.

The receivers, led by Amari Cooper, received reinforcements from former Broncos pass catcher Jerry Jeudy. Tight end David Njoku also returns after a career year with 882 yards and six touchdowns.

The Cowboys see Dak Prescott return after the third 4,000-yard season of his career, while the spotlight is on superstar receiver CeeDee Lamb, who caught 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career year.

In a surprise move, the Cowboys parted ways with running back Tony Pollard and opted for a second position in Ezekiel Elliott. Dalvin Cook would enter the fray during training camp. Rico Dowdle is also in the mix, making for an exciting rushing situation in Dallas.

The Cowboys’ offense has had a player rush for 1,000 yards in nine of the last eleven seasons.

Summary of the last game of the Browns – Cowboys

The Browns finished second in the AFC North with a record of 11-6. Their second-half surge was led by the return of veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. Cleveland lost numerous players to season-ending injuries, including Watson, Chubb and right tackle Jack Conklin.

The Cowboys won the NFC East with a record of 12-5. Before their tumultuous performance in the NFC Wild Card game, they had a perfect record of 8-0 at home. Dallas’ top-notch defense was under pressure and overrun by Jordan Love and the charging Packers.

Cleveland Browns: On January 13, they lost the AFC Wild Card game 45-14 to the Houston Texans.

Dallas Cowboys: Lost to the Green Bay Packers 48-32 in the NFC Wild Card Game on January 14
