As a four-time NBA champion, Steph Curry has played many legendary games.

His Golden State Warriors and US team coach Steve Kerr, who was at all of those games, believes his performance in Saturday’s Olympic gold medal game against France was one of the best of his career.

“This is one of the best games of his career,” Kerr said after the game on NBC. “His hits were just unbelievable. But under these circumstances, away, in Paris against France for the gold medal. This is like something out of a storybook. But that’s Steph’s job. He likes being in storybooks.”

Curry scored 24 points on Saturday, making all of his baskets from beyond the arc and sinking eight three-pointers to lead Team USA to a 98-87 victory.

Four of Curry’s eight three-pointers came in the final three minutes of the game, the first of which gave the U.S. a two-possession lead. With less than two minutes left, Curry hit threes on two consecutive possessions to keep France at bay. Finally, he sank a three-pointer with 35 seconds left to make it a nine-point lead that served as a stab in the back of the gold medal game.

Curry’s outstanding performance from distance came as the legendary shooter was competing in his first Olympic final. Despite his long list of accomplishments throughout his career, he had yet to win the gold medal.

Against a strong French team, led by rising star Victor Wembanyama, he ensured that the gold medal ultimately ended up in the hands of the US team.

Moreover, his standout performance on Saturday was arguably his second-best game of the Olympics. On Thursday, Curry had 36 points and eight rebounds on 9 of 14 three-pointers to lead the U.S. to a fourth-quarter comeback against Serbia. Curry was one point away from tying Carmelo Anthony’s record for most points in a game for Team USA.

But as Kerr mentioned, the circumstances of Saturday’s game make Curry’s performance all the more impressive. The U.S. faced a team cheered on by a home crowd, but Curry still managed to find his shot and silence the crowd.
