Tulane Baseball Announces Fall 2024 Schedule After Reaching Historic Highs

Tulane Baseball Announces Fall 2024 Schedule After Reaching Historic Highs

In his third year at the helm of the Tulane baseball program, head coach Jay Uhlman released the Green Wave’s fall schedule on Friday.

The first pitch of Tulane’s fall ball schedule will begin with practice on Thursday, October 17, before participating in the annual Alumni Game on Sunday, October 20. Fans can watch the team in two home games on October 26 against Pearl River Community College and November 2 against Nicholls before the Green Wave concludes the 2024 fall ball season with the Fall World Series on November 21 and 23.

Since being hired as Tulane’s head coach in 2022, Uhlman has exceeded all expectations by leading the Green Wave to historic heights. After reaching the NCAA Regionals with a 36-26 record and a second consecutive AAC title, Uhlman’s team defeated Nicholls 3-0 for the team’s first regional win since 2016 and first shutout in an NCAA Regional since 2005.

The Green Wave will return 22 starters from last year’s roster, including superstar pitcher Luc Fladda, who pitched eight scoreless innings in the 2024 Corvallis Regional victory over the Colonels.

Tulane’s veterans aren’t the only players looking to make an impact this season. A host of talented freshmen are joining the program this year looking to make an impact on the field and continue the Green Wave’s winning streak this season.

Pitcher Garrett Payne, who transferred from NC State in the offseason, will join the roster. The Charlottesville, Virginia native looks to make an impact on the mound for Tulane after sitting out the 2023 season due to injury.

“(Payne) is a 6-foot-8, right-handed pitcher from North Carolina State, and Garett comes to us as a graduate transfer,” pitching coach Anthony Izzio said.

“Despite limited playing time in 2023 due to injury, Garett made a strong comeback this summer with the Chatham Angels of the Cape Cod League, completing 14.1 innings with 13 strikeouts and just 5 walks. His fastball consistently reaches between 90 and 95 mph and we are excited to bring his past experience to our clubhouse and on the mound.”

In addition to the talent and depth in the bullpen with players like Payne and Fladda, the Green Waves made impressive signings in the offseason – including versatile freshman outfielders Tanner Chun and Jason Wachs.

Below is the Tulane Green Wave Fall Ball schedule:

October 17 – First day of fall training

November 2nd – Fall training game against Nicholls
