Mike Gundy disagrees with NCAA decision to use QR codes in Oklahoma State football
Oklahoma State expected to play its toughest game of all in Week 1 against FCS heavyweight South Dakota State, but it turned out that the Cowboys were the threat.
Mike Gundy’s team defeated the Jackrabbits 44-20 thanks to a three-touchdown performance from quarterback Alan Bowman and a two-score game from running back Ollie Gordon. The reigning Doak Walker Award winner averaged just under 4.0 yards per carry, but still managed 104 yards on 27 carries.
Now the Cowboys face Arkansas in a Big 12-SEC showdown. The Razorbacks dismantled Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-0 in Week 1, with everyone contributing to that dominant performance. The Cowboys hope to bring the Razorbacks back down to earth in Week 2.

Justin Martinez writes: “OSU running back Ollie Gordon II should have plenty of success on the ground against Arkansas, which finished 10th in the SEC in rushing yards allowed per game (154.4) last season. But the real difference-maker will be Alan Bowman. After throwing 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season, the redshirt senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and no interceptions in a Week 1 win over South Dakota State. Arkansas’ offense, led by dual-threat quarterback Taylen Green, will test linebacker Nick Martin and OSU’s defense. But if Bowman can continue to limit turnovers in the passing game, Arkansas won’t be able to outperform OSU’s balanced attack.”

Ollie Gordon is one of the best running backs in the country and will be a good gauge for Arkansas’ defense. The Hogs will score, but Oklahoma State will have enough firepower to avoid the upset.”

After a rough opening week for the SEC against the rest of the Power 4, Week 2 should go much better. But that comparison to the Cowboys’ experience doesn’t bode well for the Hogs. Expect Arkansas QB Taylen Green to give the Cowboys some problems with his wheels, but Oklahoma State’s offense will be too much for Arkansas.
