Jack Grealish and Declan Rice react perfectly to the taunts of Irish fans on the return of the English national team to Dublin

Amid loud boos from the Irish, Declan Rice opened the scoring, ushering in the Lee Carsley era for England against the Republic of Ireland, before Jack Grealish doubled the lead.

Irish fans were keen to let Rice and Grealish know what they thought of them on Saturday night.

The English duo started Carsley’s first game as Three Lions manager, which took place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

And after 12 minutes, Rice had scored the first goal for England after entering the penalty area too late.

Harry Kane failed to get a proper grip on the ball before the Arsenal star rushed over and hammered the ball under the net.

It was the perfect response after he had been booed by the home fans throughout the game and had banners attacking him in the stands.

Both Rice and Grealish wore the green jersey for Ireland in their younger years before moving to England.

Although both were born in England, they both played for this team and there has been hostility between Irish fans ever since.

It may have been over ten years ago, but the Irish fans in the stadium have a good memory and booed every time they touched the ball.

There were also banners in the stands reading “Rice” and “Grealish”, one of which read: “The snakes are back.”

Another image showed a photo of Rice with the caption: “Left Ireland. Left in tears.”

Rice played for the Republic of Ireland at several age levels, including U17, U19 and U21, before making three appearances for the senior national team.
