The bankruptcy of the World of Beer chain brings further uncertainty to the restaurant scene in The Villages.

Tampa-based World of Beer Bar & Kitchen has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company reported assets of between $10 million and $50 million, liabilities of between $10 million and $50 million, and 49 or fewer creditors.

The World of Beer restaurant at Brownwood Paddock Square remains open. World of Beer closed its restaurant at Spanish Springs Town Square earlier this year.

When World of Beer 2015 in former AM-640 WVLG radio studio in Spanish Springs was the 30th World of Beer location in Florida. World of Beer was opened in Brownwood in 2013. Those were exciting times.

World of Beer will open in July at Spanish Springs Town Square.

However, World of Beer stated in a press release that the company’s bankruptcy was a result of “growing market pressures, including rising interest rates, inflation, increased operating costs and a slow return of consumers to pre-pandemic eating habits.”

The company was founded in 2007.

It’s hard to predict what will happen next with the remaining World of Beer restaurant in The Villages.
