SAN ANTONIO – After a four-game undefeated streak, the UNT football team travels to Incarnate Word to play the Cardinals on Friday night.

First kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Mean Green (3-2-1) have an overall record of 5-0-0 against UIW (1-2-2) and last played them in 2019 in San Antonio, with UNT winning 3-0. The two schools were scheduled to meet in Denton last season, but the game was canceled due to thunderstorms.

In the previous five games, the Mean Green have not conceded a single goal against Incarnate Word. No active UNT player has played against UIW.

North Texas heads into Friday night’s away game after a 5-0 home win over Southern. UNT freshman Claire Niedermeier scored a brace in the first half, giving her three goals this season. After just six games this year, Niedermeier’s three goals are the seventh-most by a UNT freshman in the last 10 years.

Niedermeier and UNT Senior Rachel Roebuck were named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week with honorable mention on Monday. Roebuck had five goals and an assist in the win and leads all AAC players in points, goals and shots.

Following Friday’s game, the Mean Green will return home to host Florida Atlantic in their conference opener on Sept. 12. Fans attending the game will receive free Mean Green football scarves.
