They tried to get a WALMART customer to make the receptionist at the megastore “work” to check his receipt after he was forced to show the contents of three bags.
The angry shopper shared his frustration with Walmart on Facebook.

“Dear Walmart,” the social media post began.
“I just spent $96 on cleaning supplies and went home with only three bags and a broom.”
“One lady watched me type everything in, then another wanted to check my receipt on her way out to get the broom,” he continued.
“Both of them could have called me. Neither of them would have been able to catch me if I had actually stolen and run away.”
“Next time we’ll all train because I’m going to run. You’re going to work for that receipt, buddy,” he concluded.
Many of the user’s friends shared his opinion.
“I don’t show them shit,” one person commented.
“I tell them to get their cameras back and go straight out the door.”
“I always walk past them when they ask for my receipt,” said a second person.
“Like you just watched me type all that crap and then ask for a receipt.”
This practice, which originally began as a method of theft prevention, has now spiraled out of control and has angered several paying customers.
In revenge, many paying customers simply left the store and refused to stand at the checkout.
In one case, a loyal customer reported being chased into the store’s parking lot by a bouncer because he refused to show his receipt.

Walmart’s Scan and Go system is designed to allow customers to scan items as they shop, pay, and exit the checkout line without having to wait in long checkout lines.
The retailer describes setting up the new system as being done in just a few simple steps:
- Customers must first download the Walmart app to their phone and enable location access.
- On the Store Mode landing page, shoppers must click the “Scan to Go” option.
- Customers can scan any item and add it to their shopping cart while shopping.
- At the end, you will be asked to view the shopping cart to make sure the quantity in the app matches the quantity in your cart.
- Shoppers press “Checkout” and go to a self-checkout kiosk.
- You will be asked to scan the QR code provided at checkout and confirm your payment method.
- Once the transaction is complete, customers can leave the store without worry.
“I haven’t been to Walmart in years for this reason,” the shopper wrote on X.
“In 2018, I had no idea they checked receipts, so I just walked out with the stuff I had paid for.
“I wasn’t even halfway to the car when security came after me and made a scene as if I was shoplifting.
“The worst part was that I had already thrown away my receipt, so I had to go back and check that everything was paid for.”
However, this does not appear to be the first time that customers have reported an overly aggressive employee.
In 2019, a customer managed to film an altercation between himself and a store employee in the store’s parking lot.
“I don’t have to show you my receipt,” the man said in a video uploaded to YouTube.
“Actually, yes,” replied an employee.
After much back and forth, the buyer finally handed over the receipt.
