The Venezuelan governorship has already fought its opponent in Spain – DW – 08.09.2024

Venezuela has called for Edmundo González Urrutia, the rival of President Nicolás Maduro, to take his place in the July 28 elections, but on September 7, 2024, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez announced that the opponent had given up office.

“Today, September 7, the country notified the opposition activist Edmundo González Urrutia, who had been voluntarily residing in the Spanish hermitage in Caracas for several days, and requested a political trial before this court (…) “Venezuela has lost its debts due to the calm and political situation in the country,” said Rodríguez. It is not possible to contact the opposition immediately.

Rodríguez explained that the governments of Venezuela and Spain had abandoned “contacts with the competent authorities” and “in the name of the international legal order” to make a concession to the other party to the corresponding salvoconducto, to abandon the diplomatic examination and leave the European country.

Respect for the law

“I reiterate the response to the request that I presented to the Law of the Bolivariana Republic in the international community,” said the vice president, ensuring that he would receive more information about it in the next few hours.

Recently, Maduro, ensured that the anti-Chavista, who had been “disrespected” for several weeks, was “conserved” in a house in a residential zone of Caracas and was preparing his vacation in the hacia Miami.

Currently, the opposing coalition -Plataforma Unitaria Democrática (PUD)- has not spoken about the country’s secession after it was announced by Rodríguez.

In the elections of July 28, when the Victoria Electoral Commission sought to adopt a crisis policy towards Maduro, the opposition was informed that González Urrutia had abandoned him and confirmed that he was responding to the copies of “83.5% of the votes that the PUD verified were rejected by my fellow citizens and assessors”, documents that the Ejecutivo confirmed were “false”.
