Injury Report New York Jets vs. San Francisco 49ers Week 1

Injury Report New York Jets vs. San Francisco 49ers Week 1

The New York Jets will face the San Francisco 49ers on the road on Monday night to kick off their 2024 season. Both the Jets and 49ers have released their final injury reports for the game.

For the Jets, backup offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer suffered a hand injury that will keep him out of Monday’s game and likely land him on the injured list. Additionally, backup linebacker Zaire Barnes suffered an ankle injury that will keep him out of the game. No other Jets players are listed on the final injury report. Receiver Mike Williams is placed on pitch count due to his ongoing recovery from ACL surgery, and pass rusher Haason Reddick will be out due to his ongoing absence.

For the 49ers, rotational pass rusher Yetur Gross-Matos and backup linebacker Dee Winters are both out for the game with leg injuries. Additionally, 2022 All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga is listed as questionable with a knee injury and is not expected to play. All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey is listed as questionable with a calf/Achilles injury. McCaffrey says he expects to play, though the 49ers may put him on a “pitch count” with backup Jordan Mason stepping in more than usual.

According to our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook, the 49ers were listed as 4.5-point favorites earlier in the week. At the time of publication, that line has dropped to 3.5 points. The line may have shifted due to the uncertainty surrounding McCaffrey’s status as well as the likelihood that Hufanga won’t play. Combined with the conditioning issues that receiver Brandon Aiyuk and offensive tackle Trent Williams will likely be dealing with since they missed all of training camp, this game presents opportunities for the Jets to take advantage. We’ll see if the Jets are up to the task against a stellar 49ers team.
