NWSL media partners will broadcast Alex Morgan’s final game

NWSL media partners will broadcast Alex Morgan’s final game

Sources tell SBJ’s Mollie Cahillane that CBS was “instrumental” in getting Alex Morgan’s final game broadcast on a national simulcast.

Alex Morgan’s final professional game on Sunday will now be broadcast simultaneously on CBS Sports Network, Paramount+, NWSL+, Prime Video, ESPN2 and ESPN+, marking the first time multiple media companies in the United States will broadcast a women’s sporting event simultaneously.

Following Morgan’s surprise retirement announcement on Thursday, her final game was not initially scheduled for a national television window. Instead, Sunday’s 8 p.m. game against Carolina Courage was originally scheduled to air on NWSL+, Paramount+ and local San Diego stations Fox 5/KUSI. The decision to simulcast the event ultimately came from the partners, but sources familiar with the negotiations say CBS was instrumental in the move. Among simulcasts of the game, ESPN2 is the only broadcaster included in the Nielsen ratings.

CBS Sports will present a 30-minute pre- and post-game studio show featuring the Attacking Third crew, airing simultaneously on CBS Sports Network and Paramount+.

CBSSN postpones the 2024 FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship in Turkey and the Concacaf Nations League: El Salvador vs. Bonaire. ESPN2 had planned to broadcast a replay of the men’s US Open final.
