CHICAGO – The Tennessee Titans took a 7-0 lead over the Chicago Bears thanks to a 26-yard touchdown run by Tony Pollard in his debut for the team in Sunday’s opening game.
Pollard had a gap on the previous play but was tripped after gaining 7 yards. New head coach Brian Callahan repeated the same play on the next snap and Pollard made sure to get into the end zone this time. The run capped an eight-play drive that saw him cover 79 yards in 4 minutes, 45 seconds.
Pollard managed eight runs for 61 yards and a touchdown that day. The Titans got the ball back in scoring position when Bears returner Velus Jones Jr. fumbled the kickoff and Julius Chestnut recovered it. Nick Folk kicked a 40-yard field goal to make it 10-0 with 14:06 minutes left.
