Three flights diverted from Liverpool to Manchester Airport after “power outage”

Due to a power outage, three flights were diverted from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Manchester Airport.

Liverpool Airport today announced that all flights have been temporarily suspended due to a power outage affecting air traffic control.

As a result, several flights scheduled to land at Liverpool Airport were diverted to nearby Manchester Airport. The first diverted flight was an EasyJet flight from Jersey, which arrived at Manchester Airport 33 minutes later than scheduled, after being in the air for one hour and 23 minutes.

The second flight was an EasyJet flight from Enfidha in Tunisia, which landed 27 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.

The third flight was a Jet2 flight from Palma de Mallorca, which was scheduled to arrive at Liverpool Airport at 14:00 but instead landed at Manchester Airport at 14:30.

In a statement published on X, Liverpool Airport said: “Unfortunately, air traffic control has been impacted due to a power outage and flight operations are temporarily suspended.”

“Passengers or connecting flights should contact their airline for the latest flight information. Engineers are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Updates will follow.”
