Browns’ most important offensive weapon questionable in second half against Cowboys

The Cleveland Browns Tight end David Njoku is questionable whether he will play against the Dallas Cowboys after leaving the game in the third quarter due to an ankle injury.

The injury occurred less than four minutes into the second half when Njoku caught a short pass from Watson and broke off a 29-yard play to assist on an eventual Browns scoring drive. After the play, Njoku was seen resting his right leg as he left the field with a member of the training staff.

He ended up stopping in the blue pop-up tent on the sideline and eventually made his way to the locker room. The 29-yard pass was Cleveland’s longest of the day, as Njoku also led the team in passing when he left the game. The 28-year-old had caught four passes for 44 yards up to that point.

Njoku’s big lead helped the Browns, who trailed 27-3 at the time of his departure, score a touchdown. Seven plays later, quarterback Deshaun Watson found Jerry Jeudy for a six-yard touchdown that capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive that cut the deficit to 17 points.

In addition to Njoku, the team later announced that linebacker Mohamoud Diabate suffered a hip injury and was out for the remainder of the game. Diabate rotated on defense throughout the afternoon and finished the game with two tackles.
