Skip Bayless criticizes Jerry Jones over new contract with Dak Prescott

There are a lot of happy people in the Dallas Cowboys building now that quarterback Daniel Prescott is under contract beyond the 2024 season. From the outside, however, some people seem less pleased.

That includes Skip Bayless, who has often criticized Prescott’s play over the years. After Prescott and the Cowboys agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract on Sunday, Bayless criticized team owner Jerry Jones for making the 31-year-old the highest-paid player in history. NFL Story.

“Jerry Jones just made a quarterback who has failed in three straight playoff losses – who is 2-5 in playoff games – the highest paid player in NFL history,” Bayless wrote on X. “This is why Jerry’s Dallas Cowboys have never even made it to an NFC Championship game in nearly 30 years. Now I’m stuck… WITH DAK.”

Bayless doesn’t like it, but it’s reality: Prescott will continue to be the Cowboys’ quarterback. Prescott is coming off a season in which he finished second in MVP voting, led the league with 37 touchdowns and 4,516 yards. He led the Cowboys to the NFC East title, but Dallas had another promising season that ended in disappointment. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Cowboys 48-32 in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Jerry Jones expresses his trust in Dak Prescott

The Cowboys are banking on Prescott being the quarterback that will take them even further up the postseason.

“It’s always going to be a test and a measurement when it comes to planning ahead. That’s a big deal,” Jones said Sunday. “We’re sitting on eroding sand and things change every year. My assessment of where we’re going to go in the future is we’re going to get that done. We’re going to be able to get players around him that give us a chance to compete for the Super Bowl. He had the best chance to get one.”
