Cousins Breece Hall and Roger Craig had ‘respectful’ conversation between Jets and 49ers – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Breece Hall has close ties to the 49ers, but talks with his famous cousin Roger Craig were rather reserved ahead of the Jets’ Week 1 game against San Francisco.

Hall, 23, was asked by the media before the Monday Night Football game whether Craig had spoken to him about the upcoming game against San Francisco.

“He’s really been very respectful of my time and everything else,” Hall told reporters. “He’ll always text me a congratulations or a joke or something, but we don’t go into too much detail because I’m very busy.”

“I have to log in for the game and everything, so we probably text each other a little bit, joke about it and everything. But for the most part, my family is very respectful of my time.”

Hall was also asked if he was a 49ers fan as a child.

“Growing up, I was actually more of a college guy, so I liked Nebraska, Ohio State and of course Iowa State,” Hall said. “And so I didn’t really have an NFL team, I just liked players growing up.”

Craig, Hall’s third cousin on his father’s side, was one of the league’s best running backs during San Francisco’s dynasty years, winning three Super Bowls and becoming the first player in NFL history to record 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.

Aside from the Craig connection, Hall was a college teammate of San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy at Iowa State. The young running back was one of the highlights for a mediocre Jets team last season, and New York will be looking to return to prominence this season.

Hall and the rest of the New York offense will have their hands full against San Francisco’s dominant defense on Monday night at Levi’s Stadium.
