Rapper NLE Choppa causes confusion with “coming out” announcement on social media

Rapper NLE Choppa left fans confused when he announced his “coming out” in a cryptic social media post. On September 5, Choppa shared two zoomed-in mirror selfies on X/Twitter and captioned it, “I’m coming out.” The post, which has been viewed over 15 million times, quickly sparked speculation among fans and led to a spike in searches for “NLE Choppa gay.” However, the rapper did not provide any further details or context for the announcement.

The term “coming out” is traditionally associated with revealing one’s sexual or gender identity, but some fans questioned whether Choppa was using it in that context. Reactions to the post were mixed, with one user commenting, “Boy, you’re not gay,” while another criticized it as “hard-core gay baiting.” Others speculated that the post was part of a promotional strategy for new music.

NLE Choppa, real name Bryson LaShun Potts, rose to fame in 2019 with his single “Shotta Flow.” The Memphis-born rapper has two children and is open about the impact of fatherhood on his life. He has described the birth of his daughter as life-changing. Despite the confusion surrounding his recent post, NLE Choppa has shown his support for the LGBTQ+ community by performing at Atlanta Black Pride and thanking LGBTQ+ fans for their support. He previously tweeted, “My music for everyone, we don’t discriminate.”

The rapper has not yet clarified his latest statement and is leaving his fans waiting for further explanations.
