James Earl Jones was a true Hollywood legend, but the late movie star found his true home thousands of miles away from the bright lights of LA.

Jones, who died at age 93, built quite a real estate empire in a small New York village. Land records show he owned 10 adjacent properties at the time of his death, according to Realtor.

These properties include both houses and land, but it is unclear whether the movie star built additional homes on the property during his ownership.

Jones, who voiced “Star Wars” supervillain Darth Vader and “The Lion King” character Mufasa, reportedly died at his home in upstate New York. The cause of death has not yet been announced.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Jones moved to New York’s Dutchess County in 1970 after falling in love with the area during a road trip with a friend.

The actor reportedly traveled to the neighborhood to help his buddy find a new home, but it was Jones who ultimately secured the property.

“I liked it,” the actor told the Journal in 2012. “Big trees… they were big enough to hug.”

In the years that followed, Jones was said to have been incredibly committed to his home country. It was there that he raised his son Flynn, whom he had with his second wife Cecilia Hart. Hart died of ovarian cancer in 2016.

“One of the finest actors in the world whose contribution to Star Wars was immeasurable. He will be greatly missed. #RIP Dad,” Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill wrote on Instagram.

In the small town of Pawling, Jones found solace in a world far removed from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Pawling is known for its stunning natural landscape, numerous hiking trails and an impressive history.

There are also several lakes, America’s “oldest municipal golf course” and a stunning nature reserve.

Property records show that Jones bought his 10 homes one at a time over the years. One was purchased in 2000 for $320,000, while another was purchased in 1993 for the relatively low price of $16,500.

A third house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms was last sold in 1994 for $177,500.

That same year, Jones appears to have purchased a second home for $108,000, this time with two bedrooms and one bathroom.

Jones accomplished several incredible Hollywood feats during his time living there.

In 1970, the same year he moved to Pawling, he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Great White Hope.
