A new mix of classic hits for Northeast Pennsylvania – RadioInsight

92 Mix-FM 92.1 WQFM 100.1 WQFN Scranton Wilkes-BarreTimes Shamrock has shaken up the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market Hot AC “92.1 QFM“WQFM Nanticoke/100.1 WQFN Forest City PA to Classic Hits “92 Mix-FM” this morning.

The station, overseen by consultant Gary Berkowitz, will feature a schedule that includes “Rick Gary” Shockley in the mornings, morning host Logan from WINK-FM Fort Myers at noon, morning host Jack Diamond from WWEG Hagerstown MD and longtime morning host from WRQX Washington DC in the afternoons, and former morning host Giovanni from WPRO-FM Providence in the evenings. The station will also offer specialty blocks including “60s at 6,” “70s at 7” and “80s at 8.”

The station positions itself as “The best entertainment program of the 70s, 80s and 90s” with a presentation that Berkowitz describes as “classic Top 40.”

Times Shamrock CEO Jim Loftus said, “We are very excited to bring Mix-FM to NEPA. This new station is a testament to our commitment to providing quality and entertaining programming to our community. We believe Mix-FM will become a staple of local listening and a favorite among listeners who love classic hits.”

VP/GM Terry Dietz added: “Mix-FM represents our commitment to elevating the radio experience in our region. With a diverse mix of decades and a fantastic DJ team, we are confident that Mix-FM will resonate with audiences and become a beloved part of their daily lives.”

Operations Manager Mark Hoover added: “Mix-FM is a unique radio station not only because of our music, but also because of our outstanding line-up of on-air personalities who will play a big part in our presentation.”

Berkowitz said: “Mix-FM has been a labor of love in the making and I’m excited to see it become a reality. Our focus was to create a station that not only celebrates great music from decades past, but also creates a personal connection with listeners. We designed Mix-FM to provide both familiarity and excitement, making every song and show feel like home.”

The first hour of the new “92 Mix FM” presented:

  • Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – Refugee
  • Amy Grant – Baby Baby
  • Bon Jovi – Runaway
  • Heart – Never

WQFM’s Hot AC format had a 1.5 share in the July 2024 Nielsen audio ratings. The new format competes with GEOS Communications’ Classic Hits “Gem 99 & 100” WGMF, which had a 2.6 share last month.
