A new trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II” will be released tomorrow; Paramount released a teaser over the weekend.

Are you not entertained? Well, if not, Paramount will make sure you are by then. Gladiator II will be released in November as they plan to release another trailer morning!

Despite the posters, trailers, footage and press, it is still hard to believe that we are actually Gladiator II. But you better believe it, because there was a lot Investments in the film. And we are not only talking about finances (the film is said to cost about 300 million dollars), but also Ridley Scott himself, who said: Gladiator II is one of the best films he’s ever made. Scott is usually one of the biggest hype men for his upcoming films, but we think he’s confident here. So how will the film actually stack up against the original, which won Best Picture in 2000?

Here is the plot of Gladiator IIAccording to Paramount: “From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue and vengeance set in ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his homeland is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now rule Rome with an iron fist. With anger in his heart and the future of the empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.”

Ridley Scott’s latest film, Napoleonwas a box office flop, but he still stood behind the film. Could Gladiator II – another Scott epic – suffer the same fate? Whatever the numbers, Scott is already determined to turn his saga into a trilogy. As he put it: “I am already toying with the idea Gladiators 3. No, seriously. The end of Gladiator II reminds us of the Godfatherwith Michael Corleone, who gets a job he doesn’t want and asks himself, “Now, father, what am I doing here?” So the next film is about a man who doesn’t want to be where he is.” You have to respect Ridley Scott’s ambitions!
