“A Quiet Place: Day One” comes to Paramount+ this week

The found footage horror classic The Blair Witch Project returns with a new release from the British company on Blu-ray Second faceand it is likely to be the first offer of its kind.

The limited edition 2-disc set includes a new Second Sight Films restoration of the Hi8 videotapes and 16mm film elements, supervised and approved by the producers and directors, and presents The Blair Witch Project as it should be seen the very first time.

The Blair Witch Project Production designer Ben Rock explains on Twitter: “If you are a fan of The Blair Witch ProjectThis edition is the first of its kind. The original sources have been re-digitized, including the first complete transfer of the 16mm. And there is a new documentary by Jed Shepherd and interviewed all of us who made the film.”

“The version you saw was transferred to BetaSP in 1997 (Hi-8 and 16mm), edited to standard definition, issued from SD to 35mm and that was the 35mm print. The DVD and Blu-ray alongside this new edition were a video transfer from that 35mm print. This is the best version,” adds Rock.

Producer Mike Monello explains in his own thread: “This is the FIRST (and for now) ONLY edition of the film that has been properly transferred for home video release. It finally looks the way we saw it when we edited the film. The way we wanted it to.”

“For the last 25 years, the film has felt unfinished to me… as a true found footage experience, it now looks the way it was always meant to look,” Monello continues in his thread.
