Tesla fans have the chance to get their hands on a piece of company history.

The 32nd Tesla Roadster from the limited Validation Prototype series is for sale on eBay – but for a million dollars you have to put a lot of money aside for this car.

Scroll down to take a closer look.

Tesla launched the Roadster, its very first electric car, in 2008. The car had a range of 392 kilometers and could accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

According to Car and Driver, the Roadster’s base price in 2008 was $98,000.

Tesla has sold more than 2,400 Roadsters in 30 countries, the company wrote on its website.

Now a roadster prototype is for sale on eBay for a whopping $1 million. That’s a pretty high price, which the seller justifies by saying that the car is “historic.”

“A Tesla for a million dollars might seem crazy today, but when you consider that classic Ferraris trade for over $15 million, you can imagine what the first Ferrari prototypes would cost,” the seller wrote about the pricing on eBay.

“If we travel 30 years into the future, most cars are electric, we can trace their history back to Tesla, the company that is changing the industry, and this is a prototype of its first model. Historic and super sporty,” the salesman continued.

Still, it’s worth noting that the same Tesla Roadster sold for around $65,000 four years ago.

The car is the 32nd Roadster produced as part of the validation prototype series, but keep in mind that several prototypes were produced before the validation series, so it is not the 32nd Roadster ever produced.

The seller has provided the Roadster’s Vehicle Identification Number, and the section marked V00032 indicates that the car is a validation prototype (hence the V) and the 32nd prototype produced.

Many roadsters in the validation prototype series were destroyed in crash tests.

The current owner claims the car has a range of 160 miles.

And it’s in decent condition with just over 18,000 miles on the clock.

The Roadster is equipped with a rather unusual looking gear selector knob.

And the interior also looks neat and in good condition.

Here’s a closer look at the seats, which have a wider base and more detailed trim than the first-generation Tesla Roadsters that were part of the Engineering Prototypes series.

According to the vehicle history report, the Roadster has had three different owners and is currently registered in California.

The car comes with a hard top, a soft top, a portable charger and a 240V wall charger.

The roadster was put up for sale again on eBay earlier this week after no bids were received. Interested buyers have until Monday to make an offer.
