A sports and gaming card store opens in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG – The owner of the new card shop on Ford Street says his business fills a niche in the world of card collecting.

Mark Demers opened North Country Cards on July 8 at 947 Ford Street.

“What prompted me to open the card store was that there is nowhere to buy cards or accessories. Only Walmart and they are usually sold out. Nowhere can you buy card boxes or card protectors like penny sleeves and toploaders. Except online and the shipping costs are high if you only buy one item,” Demers explained.

The shop offers a large selection of sports and game cards. Business hours are Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“My main goal is to keep the prices reasonable. If someone wants a high-quality item, I can order it. But above all, we want the store to encourage children to collect cards again,” said Demers.

Customers can buy boxes of cards or just packs. Demers doesn’t currently buy cards, but may do so in the future.

“We get new products every week. We carry boxes, sleeves, top loaders, binders, side sleeves and dragon shields. Our goal is to get both kids and adults back into card collecting on a reasonable budget. We will also offer high-quality items as special orders for customers with special requests,” Demers noted.

The store offers autographs, hats, jerseys, memorabilia and other memorabilia.

“We also offer cards to complete current Topps baseball sets. Bring us your card numbers and complete your set. We also offer a number of vintage cards from many years,” he said.
