JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – A woman must pay $3,000 to repair her car after she unknowingly filled it with water instead of gasoline.

Mia Love said she immediately sensed something was wrong with her car as she exited the highway after leaving the BP gas station on University Boulevard West, east of I-95.

“My car started shaking really badly and wouldn’t go over 15 mph,” Love said. “I had to stop and couldn’t even get off the highway. I was in a median. Cars were coming from both sides. It was a very dangerous situation with my kids in the car.”

In a panic, she stopped and called roadside assistance to have her car towed to a Nissan dealer.

“Nissan called me the next morning and did a diagnosis and told me they basically gave me bad gas,” Love said. “There was so much water in it that they gave me a sample. It was about 80% water and 20% gas. Now they have to fix the whole car.”

Love said the situation had taken a huge toll on her.

“I am a mother of three children,” Love said. “Two of them are very active in extracurricular activities. I also work and have my own small business. I need my car in everyday life.”

Love said she informed the gas station about the incident and is in contact with the oil company.
