AAA reports falling gasoline prices at the pump – Clarksville Online

AAAWashington, DC – The national average price for a gallon of gasoline has fallen just three cents since last week and is now at $3.45, similar to the price in June. The national and state average price for Tier 2 commercial electricity, meanwhile, remains at the same level as a week ago.

“As Tropical Storm Debby moves along the I-95 corridor and enters the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, the threat to Gulf Coast oil production and refining has passed,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesman. “But tensions in the Middle East and some economic uncertainty abroad could mitigate a decline in oil prices.”

An estimated 1.2 million AAA members live in households with one or more electric vehicles, so AAA lists the cost per kilowatt-hour for Level 2 (L2) commercial charging by state.

The nationwide average price for one kilowatt hour of electricity at a commercial level L2 charging station is currently 34 cents.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand fell from 9.25 million barrels per day to 8.96 last week. At the same time, total domestic gasoline inventories rose from 223.8 million barrels per day to 225.1 million barrels. Gasoline production rose last week, averaging 10.0 million barrels per day. Crude oil production reached a historic high of 13.4 million barrels per day. Lower gasoline demand, increasing supply and stable oil prices could lead to falling pump prices.

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline today is $3.45, five cents less than a month ago and 37 cents less than a year ago.
