On Wednesday, August 14, Judge, 32, officially became the fastest player in MLB history to hit 300 career home runs during the Yankees’ victory over the Chicago White Sox, according to CNN. The historic moment occurred at the top of the eighth inning when Judge hit a three-run home run.

Accordingly Sports illustratedWednesday’s game was Judge’s 955th, surpassing Ralph Kiner, the previous record holder, who hit 300 home runs in 1,087 games in 1953. The outfielder is now the 162nd player in MLB history to hit 300 home runs in his career.

In October 2022, Judge surpassed Roger Maris’ record for most home runs in a single American League season when he hit his 62nd at the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field.

“It’s an incredible honor and there are a lot of emotions involved,” he told the Yes Network after his 61st home run, which tied him with Maris at the time. “It took me a little longer than I wanted, but … it’s something very special.”

A few months later, in December 2022, Judge and the Yankees agreed to a nine-year contract worth $360 million, according to multiple reports at the time. MLB Network insider Jon Morosi was one of the first to confirm the news.
