  • Aaron Rodgers found Allen Lazard for an early Jets touchdown on Thursday
  • But many fans found his celebration with coach Robert Saleh strange

A slightly testy moment was caught on video Thursday night for Aaron Rodgers and Jets coach Robert Saleh after New York took an early lead against the Patriots.

Rodgers threw a 10-yard pass to Allen Lazard to give the home team a 7-0 lead. As the quarterback left the field, he was greeted by an excited Saleh.

But as the coach enthusiastically grabbed his quarterback in celebration, Rodgers seemed to tell him it was “too early” to be so excited.

Rodgers then gave Saleh a gentle shove and glared at him for a few seconds before they went their separate ways.

Fans quickly realized the awkwardness of the exchange after Amazon Prime Video, the broadcaster of Thursday Night Football, posted a video of the moment on X.

“This is really a lack of affection,” said one fan.

“Embarrassing. AR is a great quarterback but a real asshole,” added another.

“I’m not going to lie. I find this a little disturbing. I understand it’s Aaron Rodgers. But such a disrespectful look along with a little retort can’t be good,” a third person chimed in.

Other fans interpreted Rodgers’ statement quite differently, with some claiming he was giving Saleh a pep talk: “You don’t score all night,” referring to the Jets’ strong defense.

Still, what Rodgers said about Saleh shouldn’t worry Jets fans too much, because their offense is worlds better than it was last year when he was healthy and playing.
