Addison Rae feels “like a virgin” at the 2024 MTV VMAs!
The “Diet Pepsi” singer strutted down the red carpet at New York’s UBS Arena on Sept. 11 in an all-white lingerie ensemble that was reminiscent of Madonna’s performance at the 1984 VMAs — and the Queen of Pop’s iconic reinterpretation of the moment in 2003 with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
“This old thing? That’s Miss Claire Sullivan, and it’s custom,” 23-year-old Rae told MTV in an interview on the red carpet about her look: a white bra decorated with feathers, matching panties and a voluminous tulle skirt with even more feathers.

The outfit was partly inspired by Madonna, whom she also referenced in the music video for her latest single “Diet Pepsi.”
“Thanks to Russ Meyer for the music video, Bruce Conner Break outMadonna – I wore a cone bra,” Rae told MTV of what went into the video. “That’s part of the inspiration for tonight, but there’s a little bit of Diet Pepsi in there too, and a little bit of Madonna.”

The thanksgiving The star was clearly inspired by Madonna’s 1984 performance of “Like a Virgin,” as well as her 2003 performance in which she memorably kissed Spears and Aguilera.

Rae then praised Spears, who is also from Louisiana, for the Princess of Pop’s big moments at the awards show: “My favorite VMA performances of all time are probably every single time Britney performed and performed, but especially when she sang ‘Satisfaction’ (at the 2000 VMAs).”
Bridal-inspired looks seem to be a trend on the 2024 VMAs red carpet, as Anitta and Sabrina Carpenter both appeared in white dresses.
Released last month, “Diet Pepsi” is Rae’s second music release of the year, following Charli xcx’s remix of “Von Dutch” featuring her and AG Cook in March.
As for what’s next, she told MTV: “I’m writing a lot of stuff. I’m working on more music. There’s more to come. Stay tuned!”
In February, Rae told PEOPLE she was “always in the studio” and hinted that fans would “see what happens.”
