The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 on Friday night, led by rookie catcher Adrian Del Castillo, who made his home debut at Chase Field, who powered the offense and led the team to victory.

Adrian Del Castillo was the first scorer of the night, bringing home a bloop RBI single off Corbin Carroll for the game’s first run and putting Arizona ahead 1-0, off Phillies ace Zack Wheeler, who has dominated this season.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, after throwing a strikeout in his second at-bat, Adrian Del Castillo got his second hit of the game against Wheeler, hitting a line drive single to right field.

Although he didn’t score and was caught off guard with a ground ball by Alek Thomas at the end, it was still a big highlight for the young, left-handed rookie catcher to get two hits against a pitcher as talented as Wheeler.

Then, with the game tied at the bottom of the 9th inning, he went first against All-Star right-hander Jeff Hoffman.

One pitch later, Adrian Del Castillo would round the bases after hitting a massive home run into the right field bleachers, a home run that would undoubtedly have been disallowed in all 30 parks.

The exit velocity at impact was 105.9 miles per hour at a perfect launch angle of 32 degrees and the ball flew 416 feet to the cheering crowd of over 35,000 spectators.

No player in Arizona Diamondbacks history has hit a walk-off home run as the first home run of his career. Adrian Del Castillo is the first in team history to do so, and it was only his second MLB game ever.

It was the D-backs’ seventh walk-off win this year and brings their record to 64-53 thanks to Adrian Del Castillo.
