Ella’s Rest has a natural and earthy aesthetic, with wooden ceilings, walls and furniture creating a sense of the environment both inside and outside the cabin.

An open plan living area and kitchen radiate views of the bush-covered dam through floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a large hotplate for cooking and a Nespresso machine for coffee.

The bedroom partitions feature wooden lattice frames reminiscent of shoji, Japanese sliding screens, and bespoke window sills provide an idyllic place to enjoy the outside from within. In the colder months, a wood-burning stove keeps the house cosy. And when it’s warmer, the option of showering, eating and stargazing by the fire outdoors is all too tempting.

The eco-conscious accommodation is designed using recycled materials and is powered by solar energy and a water tank. But unlike other cabins in nature, the place feels like a modern home away from home with plenty of character.

Groups of up to four people can enjoy being completely off the grid. Instead of scrolling, you can ride the cabin’s bikes along the coast or dance late into the night to a good selection of vinyl.
