At the end of the 49ers’ surprising 27-24 loss at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, Brandon Aiyuk got into a heated brawl with members of the Los Angeles Rams.

Brock Purdy threw a desperation throw on the last play of the game, and after a series of lateral throws, the ball landed in Aiyuk’s hands, who was tackled to the ground, ending the game.

Then, Aiyuk and the Rams players started exchanging words and shoving. Things almost got worse until a Los Angeles coach stepped in and separated everyone.

While both teams were plagued by injuries, wide receiver Jauan Jennings played the game of his life for the 49ers, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 175 yards to bring San Francisco to the brink of victory.

Despite offensive struggles in the first half, the Rams mounted a classy comeback in the fourth quarter to defeat the 49ers. San Francisco struggled to contain Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford and wasted a chance to score late when kicker Jake Moody missed a 55-yard field goal.

Given the tense NFC West rivalry between these two franchises, it’s no surprise that tempers were heated. The loss stings, as the 49ers had jumped out to a quick lead and seemed on their way to a double-digit victory before running out of steam.

With a record of 1-2, San Francisco has a significant gap to cover behind the Seattle Seahawks, who lead the NFC West with 3-0.

The team will try to get back on track next week against the New England Patriots and keep the wrangling to a minimum.
