Akron man charged with assault in park where Good Samaritans rescued victim

The Summit County grand jury on Friday indicted Issac Armour, 32, of Akron in connection with an attack in the Summit Metro Parks.

Last week, Akron officers and a park ranger responded to a 911 call in the 1100 block of Cuyahoga Street near Trailhead that a woman was screaming for help. When officers arrived and spoke with the 33-year-old victim, who police said was visibly shaken, she told officers that she had just come out of the bathroom when an unknown man grabbed her from behind and began to attack her.

According to police, three Good Samaritans heard the victim screaming for help and rushed to her aid. During the attack, one of the women reportedly hit Armour on the head with a rock and helped him pull the victim away from him.

Armour is charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree attempted rape, third-degree kidnapping and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.

“This was a violent attack and my office will work hard to bring the perpetrator to justice,” Summit County Attorney Elliot Kolkovich said in a statement. “I also want to thank the three Good Samaritans who came to the victim’s aid and helped apprehend the suspect.”

Armour’s next court date has not yet been set.
