If you’re an Aldi fan but live closer to a Winn-Dixie or Harvey’s supermarket, you’re in luck. The discount grocery retailer purchased 400 Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s stores in August 2023 and plans to convert 50 of those stores into Aldi stores by the end of 2024. Most of them are expected to be reopened and operational by the end of 2025.

Although Aldi has purchased many stores, there are no plans to convert all of them into Aldi stores. Considering that Winn-Dixie stores are almost twice the size of an average Aldi, converting these locations would not make sense, or at least that is what the company is currently claiming.

Aldi has currently closed a Winn-Dixie store in Lakeland, Florida, and hopes to reopen the store as an Aldi within six months. The grocer has also begun remodeling or is in the approval process for the following eight additional locations in Florida, according to Islander News.

  • Bradenton Winn-Dixie, 5805 Manatee Avenue W.

  • Deltona Winn-Dixie, 2880 Howland Blvd.

  • Fleming Island Winn-Dixie, 1545 County Road 220

  • Jacksonville Harvey’s Supermarket, 2261 Edgewood Ave. W.

  • Lakeland Winn-Dixie, 6902 S. Florida Ave.

  • Panama City Winn-Dixie, 3157 West 23rd St.

  • Panama City Beach Winn-Dixie, 23200 Front Beach Road

  • Tampa Winn-Dixie, 2100 W. Swann Ave.

Aldi is working hard to expand its stores in the United States. The company announced plans to add 800 stores by the end of 2028, including brand new openings and store remodels. In addition to these stores in the Southeast, Aldi also hopes to open 330 stores in the Northeast and Midwest, with stores also set to open in areas of Southern California, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
