Amateur chef freaks out when he realizes that his electric stove has hacked his Bluetooth headphones: “So weird”

It is a sensitive subject.

A home cook was speechless when he increased the heat on his electric stove and discovered that his wireless headphones also became louder.

The stunned chef detailed the incident in a Reddit post, revealing that he was wearing a pair of noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones while making pancakes on a Siemens stove.

“When I cook on my induction stove while wearing my Sony WH1000 XM4, the headphones’ touch controls respond to the stove’s magnetic field, changing volume, pausing, playing…” the Reddit user wrote.

There is little scientific evidence on the effects of an electric stove on wireless earbuds.

However, the device’s magnetic fields have been shown to interfere with electronic devices such as pacemakers and digital meat thermometers.

Many cooking experts therefore recommend using an analog meat thermometer when cooking on an electric stove.

Reddit users were baffled by the fact that the headphones could be controlled using the stove’s buttons, with one bluntly writing, “This is so weird.”

“I have the same stove and headphones,” said a second. “Now I feel compelled to try this out for science.”

Others spoke up and said they had noticed that magnetic fields also interfere with other electronic devices.

“I could change the speed of the fan using my TV remote,” said one. “SO annoying.”

Another found the phenomenon far less disturbing, saying, “I can use the volume button on my TV remote to turn my electric fireplace on and off. It’s actually quite convenient for me. One less remote I have to use.”
