It would be a huge understatement to say that Americans have no shortage of culinary options these days, with so many fast-growing restaurant chains across the country. But a new survey shows that one of these chains sticks in the minds of many Americans more than the others—and it’s probably not the one you’d expect.

Restaurant news of the nation has just released its first-ever report on America’s Favorite Restaurant Chains in partnership with market research firm Technomic, providing new insights into the brands that have become the biggest fan favorites in 2024. Technomic based the report on survey responses from consumers who were asked to rate various chains on service and hospitality, appearance and ambience of the premises, food and beverage, convenience and carry-out, and value for money. Technomic then assigned percentage scores for each of these factors and also gave an overall rating for each chain.

So which chain fared better than all the others in this insightful new report? One might assume that the title goes to a giant like McDonald’s, which, according to QSR Magazine. However, the first place went to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, a chain known for its top-notch steak and seafood offerings in an upscale setting.

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse received an overall score of 64.8% in the report, well ahead of second-place chain Seasons 52 (60.4%). However, the chain’s ratings for value for money were significantly lower at 54.8%.

This means that customers are big fans of the Ruth’s Chris experience, but are not so happy with the prices. For context: Business Insider A report from the summer of 2023 found that a family of four spent $500 on a dinner at the chain, including appetizers, drinks and desserts.

The new report also shows that steakhouses are generally popular with American consumers. In fact, four of the top 10 chains with the highest scores in the survey were steakhouses: The Capital Grille, LongHorn Steakhouse, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and, of course, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.

The other brands that appeared in the top 10 were (in no particular order) Dutch Bros. Coffee, Bahama Breeze, Cooper’s Hawk Winery&Restaurants, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Smoothie King.
