AMHERST, Wis. (WSAW) – Grit & Grace Family Restaurant, a local restaurant in Amherst, welcomes a visit from America’s Best Restaurants Beginning of September.

America’s Best Restaurants is a national media and marketing company focused on promoting local, independent restaurants. On September 2nd, it will bring its ABR Roadshow to Grit & Grace.

Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an in-depth on-camera interview with owner Mandy Garske about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be broadcast in full on social media channels at a later date.

Garske purchased the restaurant from the previous owners after her husband and a friend encouraged her to offer to buy and revive it.

The homey, wood-paneled interior offers a cozy atmosphere and a menu of homemade comfort foods such as fried chicken, burgers and sandwiches, hot entrees, a full breakfast menu and homemade desserts.

“This is a very small, supportive community,” Schubert wrote. “The owners are God-fearing, generous people who give back to the community in many ways without expecting recognition.”

One way the owners give back to the community is through their “Blessings Board,” where people can purchase meals for others and pin the ticket to a board outside the restaurant for someone else to take and use. They also host fundraisers on Fridays where ten percent of sales go to a local charity.
