Andy Reid provides schedule update for KC Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has not practiced since injuring his sternum and collarbone on the Chiefs’ first offensive game of the preseason on Aug. 10. After missing the rest of the preseason and KC’s first game of 2024 against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, the question is whether Brown will return for KC’s Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid discussed the latest on Brown’s status with media on Monday. After noting that the Chiefs came out of the injury situation against Baltimore “relatively healthy,” Reid gave a brief update on Brown’s current condition.

“We’ll see how Hollywood does with all the tests he’s going to do this week, but we’ll just see where he stands,” Reid said.

Reid was later asked how optimistic the team was about Brown’s chances of playing on Sunday, especially in light of the timeline presented by comparing it to Tyreek Hill’s recovery from a similar injury in 2019.

“Listen, everyone is different, but it’s the same type of injury,” Reid said. “He’s close. I know he’s getting better, we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. They’ve been doing these regular tests on him and making sure he’s going in the right direction, and scans and all that, but it looks like he’s going in the right direction, now we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.”

In 2019, Hill was injured on September 8 and returned on October 13, leaving a 35-day window between his injury and his return to action. Brown suffered his dislocation on August 10 and the Chiefs play the Bengals on September 15, leaving a 36-day window for Brown’s potential return.
