The nonprofit organization 365 Pet Connection will distribute free dog food and cat food on Wednesday, August 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Cottonwood Shores Civic Center, 4111 Cottonwood Drive.

The Horseshoe Bay-based group distributes free pet food on the second Wednesday of the month in partnership with The Cupboard at Cottonwood food bank. According to its Facebook page, the group also delivers pet food to the Sharing the Harvest food bank, 3435 RR 1431 West in Kingsland, which is open Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Year-round animal rescue 365 Pet Connection is dedicated to saving as many lives as possible. Volunteers work to rescue animals from kill shelters and find them permanent homes.

“We decided the best way we could help was by connecting with other nonprofits, shelters and rescue organizations,” the group’s website states. “By coordinating rescues, providing care, educating, networking and transportation, we can give these loving, easily adoptable animals a better life and change their world forever.”

“If you know someone who is looking for a particular animal or breed, we can help them find a suitable specimen and save another life,” the website continues. “Please send us any information you may have.”

The group can be reached at [email protected].

Donations are welcome as 365 Pet Connection does not spend much time collecting donations.

“We are simply too busy helping animals,” the website states. “We have worked with great organizations and believe that we can have a greater impact on animals’ lives if we do our work by hand and from the bottom of our hearts.”

Donations can be made through PayPal or by sending a check to 365 Pet Connection, 124 Hills Court, Horseshoe Bay, TX 78657.

Volunteers are needed to care for and transport animals and educate the public about the group’s mission. One can also arrange a visit to the shelter to help with socialization, bathing and exercise of the rescued animals.
