Annual Fire Station Benefit and Quilt Auction Scheduled for August 18

Employee report

The Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department’s Willis Station will host its 26th Annual Gospel Sing-Along on Sunday, August 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Willis Firehouse.

Uldine Duncan of Willis has donated full-size, handmade quilts to the Willis Fire Station to be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the fire station.

This year’s quilt will be sold to the highest bidder at the auction during Gospel Sing.

Uldine is an amazing person, she has helped many groups and individuals over the years by donating homemade quilts to raise money and support people in Floyd County.

When she first started making quilts, she could buy a quilt for $50, and Ms. Uldine’s first quilt was sold. At Gospel Sings, which began in 1998, her quilts regularly sell for hundreds, and recently thousands.
