Arizona Republic’s Best High School Football Player of Week 3; Poll

There were some incredible performances on Arizona high school football fields in Week 3. The Arizona Republic has listed the top 20 players, and coaches have weighed in. Vote for the overall winner in our poll below (print readers can find the poll and article at azcentral.com/sports/high-schools).

Week 3: The 20 best players of the week

1. Bastian Vanden Bosch, Brophy Prep, OLB, Jr.

In three quarters of play in the 44-0 win over Regis Jesuit of Colorado, he recorded 4 tackles, 3.5 losses, 3 sacks, 2 hurries and a fumble recovery.

2. Tristan Bacon, Raymond S. Kellis, LB/RB, Sr.

In a 28-7 win over Peoria, he ran 12 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns and had eight tackles and a sack.

3. Elijah Little, Thunderbird, RB, Sr.

In a 36-14 win over Prescott, he ran 23 times for 169 yards and four touchdowns.

4. Elliot Reed, Westwood, QB, Jr.

In a one-point win over Skyline, he threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions and ran for a 44-yard touchdown. His last-minute 53-yard touchdown pass decided the game.

5. Sir-Izzik Caldwell, Tonopah Valley, QB, Sr.

In a 39-0 win over the Odyssey Institute, he passed for 244 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

6. Aeden Calini, Highland Prep, DB/WR, Sr.

He intercepted three passes and returned two for touchdowns and caught a TD pass in a 52-40 win over Chandler Prep.

7. Aaron Crawford, Chandler Prep, WR, So.

In the shootout loss to Highland Prep, he caught 12 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns.

8. McKenneth Woodberry, Cesar Chavez, DB/PR, Sr.

In a win over Westview, he returned an interception 95 yards for a touchdown and another 70 yards for a touchdown. He also returned punts for over 100 yards.

9. Jack Isadore, Verrado, RB, Sr.

He ran five times for 185 yards and two touchdowns, giving Jeremy Hathcock his first win as Verrado’s coach.

10. Jaxon Knutson, McClintock, QB, Sr.

In a 54-20 win over Marcos de Niza, he completed 23 of 39 for 404 yards and five touchdowns.

11. Kemon Jackson, McClintock, WR, Sr.

He had eight catches for 157 yards and three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.

12. Simon Lopez, Red Mountain, QB, Sr.

In a 53-6 win over Valley Vista, he completed 9 of 10 passes for 249 yards and scored five touchdowns.

13. Wyatt Horton, Pinnacle, QB, Sr.

In one half of the 54-0 win over Tolleson, he was 13 of 16 for 196 yards and two touchdowns.

14. Malachi Gomez, ALA Ironwood, RB/LB, Sr.

Replacing injured running back Ayden Williams, he ran 32 times for 245 yards and five touchdowns in a 3A win over Gilbert Christian.

15. Connor Lueker, Round Valley, QB, Sr.

In a shutout win over St. John’s, he threw two touchdown passes and ran for more than 100 yards.

16. Noah Roberts, Basha, RB, So.

In a win over Mesa, he ran eight times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

17. Bryce Herges, Desert Mountain, QB, Sr.

In a 36-0 win over Sunrise Mountain, he threw four touchdown passes and ran for another touchdown.

18. Hayydn Nichols, Snowflake, LB, Jr.

In a win over Cactus, he had seven tackles, three for loss, and two sacks.

19. Royce Vanacore, Sunnyslope, QB, So.

In a 48-17 win over Apollo, he completed 15 of 18 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns and ran nine times for 44 yards.

20. Dezmen Roebuck, Marana, WR, Sr.

In a 56-7 win over Tucson, he caught six passes for 101 yards and three touchdowns.
