Armed robbery at 7-Eleven in Elmwood Park, NJ, under investigation

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Elmwood Park early Tuesday.

According to Elmwood Park police, officers arrived at the store around 4:34 a.m. after receiving a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, they spoke with the clerk, who described the suspect as a young man wearing a white Nike hoodie and gray pants.

The clerk told officers that the suspect entered the store, brandished a large knife or machete, and demanded that the cash register drawer be removed. After the clerk complied, the suspect stole approximately $500 in cash and fled the store in an unknown direction.

With the assistance of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office tracking dog unit, the area was searched, but the suspect was not found. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office crime scene team was also on site to search the crime scene.

The Elmwood Park Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating the incident.
