Astronomers use Hubble data to visualize what the starburst galaxy NGC 1569 might sound like
Astronomers used data from the Hubble Space Telescope to visualize what the starburst galaxy NGC 1569, located 10.96 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Camelopardalis, might sound like. This star factory creates stars 100 times faster than our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

In this sonification, the brighter lights represent higher and louder tones, while the three color channels used to process this image each have their own pitch range. That’s right, red represents lower tones, green represents mid-tones, and blue represents high tones. What you probably don’t know about NGC 1569 is that its entire core is 5,000 light-years wide. Its center is actually a collection of three giant star clusters, each containing more than a million stars.
