RACE 1

2. Ramiel The son of top sire Tapit is out of a mare who won straight away; trainer Lynch has a win rate of 29% for 2-year-old first horses
1. Let’s have a party Pressured the 6-5 winner on debut but couldn’t keep up with the top pair on the track
4. Bobby Rocky Jake Improved speed in the latest

RACE 2

7. Yodeling EA Who Noble old veteran with earnings of almost $700,000; not the horse he once was, but probably too much for this
4. Secret Alliance In a race with a slow initial pace, he should finish first and second in the first half and be in a good position to cause a stir later
3. The Gambling Czar Should the company find itself more sympathetic in a simpler situation; two out of three will come back from the most recently won follow-up competitions

RACE 3OFF THE PIT

9. Nohai Trainer Lynch entered the impressive debut winner Caprice, who won the same race by 13 lengths on July 20 and has a 33% strike rate for 2-year-old first-place finishers; the dam won first and then finished second in one race and the sire Gormley has a 9% strike rate for 2-year-old debut runners
4. Happy Flay Showed good early speed on his debut and chased a blistering pace. Although he was clearly no match for the runaway winner Caprice, he finished third and that was a useful start. He can move forward and holds rider Centeno
8. My Charm Bernardini mare is out of a multiple stakes winner for a stable that can win first out of the box

RACE 4

5. Dancing Beauty The fast guy hopes to take control early here; he hasn’t been able to do that recently, but there isn’t much other pace here
7. Majesty’s Freedom Some moderate movement lately; pullback to the bottom should support things
3. By numbers If you go down and then sprint again, this should continue

RACE 5 OFF THE PIT

4. City minute That miss made headlines at Penn National this morning; the father has an 18% hit rate among older debutants and two of three half-siblings have won on their debut.
2. Wampy Willing debut, as part of the early foursome before tiring towards the end; improvement likely
6. My dream comes true The mare Gun Runner has trained well at MTH; she is registered there for a race tomorrow

RACE NOTES

  • Due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby, Thursday’s nightcap and the entire Friday program had to be cancelled…
  • jockey Jaime Rodriguez scored a hat-trick on Thursday, two of these victories came from the leading coach Jamie Ness

RACE 6

2. The devil pays with gold The worst of the trip I had to endure lastly by frequently tapping the brakes behind the horses, but I was still willing; a cleaner trip could do it today
3. Blessed Touch Girvin’s expensive mare impressed early in her career; perhaps a change of scenery will help her get back into shape; trainer Stidham brings solid horses off the bench
5. Turn the breeze For the third time from the bench in the starting eleven

RACE 7OFF THE PIT

6. California sober Has trained fairly well on the track for career debut; dam was a stakes winner and several of her siblings ran well on debut, though without winners.
2. Haizum Arrogate’s colt has good qualities but has not made much of an impression in his races; on the other hand, he has been in good company, including starts at Churchill and Saratoga
5. The great Andy Mort The improved sorting showed a new speed with added blinks and back on the main track
