Autumn Equinox 2024: Follow these self-care rituals to honor the Autumn Equinox

Autumn equinoxalso known as Autumn Equinox will take place on 22 September 2024. The word equinox comes from the Latin word meaning “equal night.” It refers to the approximately 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night that only occur on the two equinox days of the year. This is because the sun is directly over the equator, making this time a time of balance, equality, and harmony.
It is a time of self-reflection, healing and cleansing, where we reap all that we have accomplished and give thanks for the abundance of Mother Earth. Here are some self-care activities you can do to prepare for the upcoming equinox.
Self-care activities during the equinox
1. Improve your physical balance
Do gentle yoga or stretches that symbolize the balance of the autumn equinox. Adopt poses that ground you, and as you move, visualize the balance you want to achieve in your life.
2. Transform yourself with nature
Just as trees lose their leaves, let go of what no longer serves you. Take a moment and reflect on the things and people that are not there for you and do not give you peace of mind. Let go of your old habits and embrace your personal growth. Just as nature changes, so do you.
3. Take a cleansing ritual bath
Honor the equinox as a time of transition with a cleansing ritual bath. Fill your tub with warm water, add calming essential oils, and soak in. Imagine the water washing away your negativity. You will feel refreshed and renewed.
4. Prepare a party
Prepare a meal from the season’s bountiful harvest. Savor the flavors and nourish your body with seasonal delicacies. Share this feast with your loved ones, nurture connections, and show your gratitude for the abundance in your life.
5. Show gratitude
Pause to reflect on the blessings that enrich your life. Write a list of heartfelt gratitudes, acknowledging the people, experiences, and gifts that fill your days with joy. Let this exercise ignite a warm glow of appreciation in your heart.
What can you do to brighten your mood?
1. Diary
Write down what you are grateful for and what goals you have for the season.
2. Nature walk
Take a relaxing walk and immerse yourself in the beauty of the changing leaves.
3. Eat seasonally
Nourish your body with fall foods like pumpkin and apples.
4. Use crystals

5. Meditate
Start the morning with a centering meditation to set your intentions for the day. Admire the morning sun, which brings us into harmony with the cycle of nature. You can also do a chakra meditation to bring balance to the body, mind and spirit.
