After an excruciating season finale of “Bachelorette,” Bachelor Nation fans are signing a petition calling on ABC to apologize and fire the show’s producers.

Emotions ran high during the final episode of Bachelorette star Jenn Tran’s season on Tuesday night. Viewers were left in tears as Tran emotionally described the breakdown of her relationship with winner Devin Strader.

Tran described how Strader’s behavior changed dramatically after their engagement on “The Bachelorette.” Last month, Strader broke off the engagement in a 15-minute phone call.

Tran was then forced to sit next to her former fiancé in front of a live audience and watch a video of the now-dissolved engagement.

The fans were outraged.

“It’s not entertaining to see someone in such insurmountable pain that they’re almost gasping for air,” one fan posted on X. “It’s not cute or funny to make them, at the height of that pain, rewatch the day they just described as the worst of their lives in front of a live studio audience and next to the person responsible for that pain.”

Another wrote, “This is SO evil… shut down the entire franchise for doing this to her,” said X.

More than 1,400 fans signed a petition posted on Change.org calling on ABC to apologize for the incident and fire the producers involved.

The petition, published by Kayla Boyd on Change.org, accuses ABC of failing to “protect Jenn Tran.”

“What was allowed to air last night was abhorrent. Making Jenn watch the proposal alongside Devin and live-streaming her reaction is a level of cruelty I would not have expected from a show that is supposed to be about love,” Boyd writes.

The petition also points out the importance of Tran being the first Asian American lead on The Bachelorette, claiming that “it is dangerous for women, especially women of color, to be subjected to such psychological stress for ratings.”

The petition ends with a suggestion: “The producers of last night’s finale of The Bachelorette should be fired, effective immediately. … The producers should have protected Jenn instead of capitalizing on her pain.”

“I demand an apology from ABC. Everyone involved should be ashamed.”

What happened in the season finale of Jenn Tran’s “Bachelorette”?

Season 21 of “The Bachelorette” ended unusually. Instead of the typical live engagement clip and happy ending, the episode switched to Tran sitting with host Jesse Palmer in front of a live audience.

“Normally, you would watch a romantic proposal like this… and instead, here I am,” Palmer told a live audience. “Well, that’s because you won’t see that proposal… because of what’s happened in Hawaii since that day, we decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for anyone to see it. until we heard from Jenn.”

Tran fought back tears as she described how her relationship with Strader changed dramatically when the cameras were gone. “I felt like I was anything but secondary in his life,” she told the audience.

Then last month, Strader called Tran and called off their engagement. He told her he “regretted” getting engaged, Tran said. “I don’t understand what happened. I don’t understand what changed.”

Tran revealed that she hadn’t seen Strader since July, before he called off the engagement. Strader was then brought on stage to have a conversation with Tran.

“Obviously I disappointed you. And I can’t say anything else,” Strader told Tran. “But everything I felt for you was real.”

The former couple had a long argument before Palmer suggested watching a clip of the engagement.

“Do I have a choice?” Tran asked before the clip began.

Tran sat next to Strader and sobbed when she saw the engagement clip for the first time.

Tran ended her appearance on the show by telling Strader, “I hope you learn that the weight of your words counts and that if you promise something, you should be able to keep that promise. I just couldn’t have done what you did. … I hope that you find whatever it is, wherever it is on your personal journey, I hope that one day you get there.”

After Tuesday night’s episode, Tran said in a lengthy Instagram post that her “heart is heavy and she is grieving but needs to make room for forgiveness.”

“I want to acknowledge the grief felt around the world as it is such a universal experience. To all the girls and boys in love out there, our greatest gift in life is how big our hearts are. It is easier to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all,” she continued in her post.

“I am still healing. It has been difficult to process the last few months, and it will continue to be difficult for me to fully understand my own heart in this moment. What I do know, however, is that I deserve unconditional and unwavering love, whenever that love may come.”

Immediately after filming the live portion of the final episode, Tran was informed that she had been selected for the 33rd season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

“When I came off the stage, I was crying and they said, ‘You’re going to Dancing with the Stars and you have to get on a plane in 45 minutes and you can’t pack anything. Don’t forget to bring your ID.’ I was like, ‘Is this real life? Is this really happening?'” Tran told Glamour Magazine.

“I was just so excited and so happy. And it was nice to have that happiness at a time when I was obviously not very happy, and I was very, very grateful for that.”

Tran’s dance partner on the competition series is Sasha Farber. She said she was “thrilled” to be part of the series.

“It’s a healing process, but right now I’m just so excited for this new opportunity and being able to throw myself into something else, something I’ve always wanted to do,” Tran told People.

“I took a ballroom dancing class in college and we’ll see where it goes. I’ve always wanted to learn.”
