Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is teaming up with comedy legend Adam Sandler, Netflix announced Tuesday.

The singer will support Sandler in the highly anticipated sequel “Happy Gilmore 2,” but his role is still unknown.

Also confirmed for the new film are original stars Julie Bowen – now a former “Modern Family” actress – and Christopher McDonald, both of whom will return from the 1996 original with Sandler. Sandler also confirmed in August that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will make a cameo appearance in the new film.

Bowen played Virginia Venit, Happy’s lover, in the film, while McDonald played Shooter McGavin, the professional golfer who was the archenemy of the hockey player turned golf pro in the original.

Bad Bunny starred alongside Brad Pitt in director David Leitch’s 2022 action comedy “Bullet Train.”

The singer teased the news on his Instagram story on Tuesday, sharing a photo of himself on a big screen with a fake title card identifying him as Sandler.

The news came a day after Sandler and the streaming platform announced that production on the film was underway. In May, it was announced that Sandler would reprise his role from the 1996 comedy “Happy Gilmore.”

The film is about a hockey player who reinvents himself as a golf star. “Happy Gilmore 2” will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
