The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got a little revenge on the Detroit Lions on Sunday, winning 20-16 and moving into the 2024 season with a 2-0 record.
Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers on a six-play, 70-yard drive, capping it off with an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The point and extra point gave the Buccaneers a four-point lead, and they won the game by the same margin.

The veteran quarterback was accurate for the second consecutive game. With 9:08 minutes left in the second quarter, he threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Chris Godwin, giving Tampa Bay a 13-6 lead before halftime.
After the Lions scored with a field goal by Jake Bates and a rushing touchdown by David Montgomery, Mayfield answered with the touchdown.
Mayfield was efficient, completing 12 of 19 passes for 185 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Godwin was his main target. The wide receiver caught seven of eight passes for 117 yards and scored the point. Mike Evans caught three of six passes for 42 yards.
Mayfield also led the team with 34 rushing yards. Bucky Irving had 22 yards on seven carries.

The Lions welcomed the Buccaneers to Detroit. The two teams met in the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs at Ford Field earlier this year. The Lions won the game 31-23.
This time the result was completely different.
Jared Goff completed 34 of 55 passes for 307 yards, but threw two interceptions. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 11 passes for 119 yards. Jameson Williams caught five passes for 79 yards.

Tampa Bay improved its season record to 2-0 and Detroit fell to 1-1.
