Inebriated Baker, which opened in the mall in 2022, is closing its doors this month, according to owner Danielle Rowell, who calls herself “Col. Danielle Rowell” because she is a colonel in Kentucky.

She announced the plans on social media; the last day will be August 25. According to the post, limited flavors will be available in the store daily.

Rowell said her cupcakes and cheese spreads will still be available for online delivery and that a seasonal food truck will be coming in 2025. She will also continue to accept local catering orders, she said.

Inebriated Baker sells cupcake-shaped “edible cocktails” (soaked in alcohol) that taste like your favorite cocktails, complete with an alcoholic kick. The company started as a concession stand in the Julietta Market in Greyline Station in 2020 before expanding into a full-fledged business. Inebriated Baker also sells non-alcoholic cupcakes.

What’s next for Inebriated Baker?

So why is it closing the store at 3401 Nicholasville Rd., which is next to Coach?

“2025-26 is a huge expansion and rebranding,” Rowell said. “I’m really looking forward to the next phase.”

She said she is evaluating her needs, but for now, she can be found at pop-up festivals later this year, including the Midway Fall Fest, Lexington’s ScareFest and the Junior League of Lexington’s Holly Day Market.
