Balenciaga opens store in Iguatemi shopping center in São Paulo

Balenciaga has chosen Iguatemi, one of Brazil’s leading shopping centers, for its newest store.

The luxury brand will open a 3,230 square meter boutique in the São Paulo shopping center on Monday. The store will offer ready-to-wear clothing for men and women, shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear and jewelry.

The store’s design is the latest to utilize the company’s experience-led Raw Architecture concept, whose design is reminiscent of construction sites and abandoned places. Additionally, the store was built using existing elements, requiring fewer raw materials – a move that is in line with Balenciaga’s commitment to sustainability.

Brushed concrete floors are meant to resemble walkway tiles, while walls and shelves are made of untreated concrete slabs, creating the illusion of an indoor/outdoor space. Ceiling grilles, industrial lighting systems and other technical fittings are visible above the roof. Aged aluminum tables and benches are upholstered with locally made vegan alternatives to leather. Anodized metal, bottom-lit shelves and a light box are also part of the design.

The store is owned and operated by the company and is the company’s third store in Brazil. The others are located in another shopping center, Iguatemi, in Sao Paolo, and in the Village Mall in Rio de Janeiro.
