Banana Republic opens redesigned store in LA

Banana Republic opens redesigned store in LA

A brand new Banana Republic store is being built in Los Angeles as part of a redesign.

Banana Republic has opened its newly designed store in Westfield Century City, following a recent remodel of its flagship store in SoHo, New York. Designed by architect and interior designer Noa Santos and curated by creative consultant Jacqueline Schnabel, the modernized store features a sleek interior with Venetian plaster walls, brass accents and white oak floors. Modern coastal elements and layered spaces create a sophisticated and immersive shopping environment that connects fashion with global culture.

In its press release, the retailer explains that “shoppers are encouraged to browse the most beautiful books in collaboration with Taschen, scented candles from Cote Bougie in Morocco and artwork by New York-based French artist Servane Mary to create a modern, relaxed atmosphere.”

The Century City store also offers a curated selection of premium items, such as sculptures by Jonathan Shlafer, Vince Skelly and Nadia Yaron. To enhance the shopping experience, the store offers a spacious dressing room, dedicated styling area and in-house tailor, reflecting Banana Republic’s focus on quality and personalized service.

Last year, Banana Republic took a significant step with the launch of BR Home, opening up a new business segment that encompasses a range of home products including furniture, lighting and décor. This move marks a shift from the brand’s traditional focus on apparel to becoming a broader lifestyle brand with the goal of providing a complete home experience.

BR Home offers products such as vases for $150, cotton bedding sets for $195 and furniture including dining tables and sofas ranging in price from $1,250 to $4,950. The collection is available on its own website and in select Banana Republic stores.

Banana Republic’s entry into the home market reflects a broader trend that has seen fashion houses and specialty chains like Ralph Lauren, Anthropologie and H&M expand their offerings into the home goods space. Despite a recent decline in home sales, as evidenced by declining numbers from Pottery Barn, West Elm and other retailers, optimism remains that consumers value their homes and continue to seek out home improvement items.

Sandra Stangl, President and CEO of Banana Republic, emphasized the brand’s commitment to quality and timeless design in both apparel and home products, with the goal of meeting customers’ evolving lifestyle needs.
